Calvin Rose, of Harkers Island, built the hull of the MISS SUE in 1962 for Monte Willis, of Stacy. At twenty-five feet in length, the boat can be handled easily by one person. Willis used her for shrimping, scalloping, and oystering. In the early 1970s, Leslie Hamilton, from Stacy, built the cabin, and in the late 1980s, fisherman Michael Braxton Fulcher, also from Stacy, bought the boat and renamed her MISS SUE for his wife. He added the pilot house after the boat's purchase.
