Nancy Ellen, Atlantic.tiff
The NANCY ELLEN, formerly named PAULINE, was built by Ambrose Fulcher, of Atlantic, in 1927 for Irwin Morris, also from Atlantic. She was constructed as a haul boat for the long-haul fishing trade and named for Morris's niece. In the 1950s Morris sold her to fisherman Charles Smith, who renamed the vessel the Nancy Ellen after his two daughters. In 1979 John "Buster" Salter bought the NANCY ELLEN for use in his long-haul fishing operation. In 2005 he sold it to David Smith, the son of Charles Smith who is renovating her as a pleasure boat. As evident in the photograph, a "waist" was added to elevate the boat's sides.
